GRAPHIC DESIGN EXPERT
Omar Murcia is a seasoned graphic designer with over 30 years of experience in the field. Currently, he is the Art Director and Founder of OM Graphic Design, LLC, where he defines the conceptual and stylistic direction for the design team and coordinates the work of designers, production artists, photographers, illustrators, animators, pre-press technicians, web designers, web programmers, printers, and other professionals involved in project development. He is also responsible for vendor selection and holds final creative authority. His clients include CNN en Español, UPS, GP, CNN International, VaCom Technologies, TBS Latin America, Georgia Department of Natural Resources, Dana Augustine Jewelry, and many others.
Previously, Omar was the Art Director at THP Graphics Group, Inc. from 2003 to 2012, where he directed and strategically developed high-end design projects for prominent companies in the Atlanta area, including Fundación Colombianitos, Southern Polytechnic University, W Hotels, Cox Communications, Assurgent Medical, Duffey Construction, Acuity Brands Company, among others.
From 2001 to 2003, he worked as an Art Director at Interprint Communications, creating and developing various design projects for companies such as The Coca-Cola Company, Turner Broadcasting System, Atlanta Braves, Atlanta Falcons, Atlanta Zoo, and Comcast Digital Cable.
In the academic field, Omar was a Web Designer at the University of Barcelona (Spain) from 1999 to 2000, where he was responsible for all aspects of visual interface design, including screen layout, typography, symbolism, color, information design, and visual design guidelines and standards. Before that, he was the Art Director at OM Diseño Gráfico in Bogotá, Colombia, from 1997 to 1999, implementing several graphic projects, such as editorial design, publishing, and corporate identity, for clients such as UNICEF Colombia, the Ministry of Communications, and Jafra International.
Omar has also shared his knowledge as a Graphic Design Professor at Politécnico Grancolombiano University in Bogotá, Colombia, from 1997 to 1998, teaching basic topics about graphic design in the Marketing & Advertising Program. From 1993 to 1997, he was a Senior Graphic Designer at Concepto e Imagen, Ltda., creating, developing, and specifying screen layouts, typography, icon design, and color solutions for various projects, with clients such as Mazda Colombia, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Group of Rio, and the Group of Three (Mexico, Colombia, Venezuela).
His career began as an Art Director Assistant at GS & Associates in Bogotá, Colombia, from 1988 to 1993, collaborating with interaction designers to direct and coordinate visual design projects. He also completed a graphic design internship at the Colombian newspaper El Tiempo from 1988 to 1989, collaborating with the Editorial Design Department in page design and editorial projects.
Omar has a solid academic background, with a Master in Digital Graphic Design from the University of Barcelona (Spain) obtained in 2000, and a Bachelor in Graphic Design from the National University of Colombia obtained in 1990. Additionally, he studied English as a Second Language at the Georgia Institute of Technology from 2000 to 2001.
Throughout his career, Omar has dedicated time to volunteer work, offering pro bono professional graphic design and photography services for Saint Augustine Catholic Church in Covington, GA, from 2000 to 2002, and for the Boy Scouts of America, Pack 422, in Kennesaw, GA, from 2007 to 2012. He has also collaborated with Saint Catherine of Siena Catholic Church, Preschool & School in Kennesaw, GA, from 2009 to 2017, and with Holy Spirit Preparatory Upper & Lower School in Atlanta, GA, from 2014 to 2017. Currently, he continues to offer his volunteer services for the Hispanic Ministry of the Cathedral of Christ the King in Atlanta, GA, since 2023, and for the Knights of Columbus, Council 660, in Atlanta, GA, since 2024.
